Admission to classes VI and IX is based on an entrance examination. The Ministry of Defence and the state government provide multiple merit and means-based scholarships to support deserving students.

Sainik School Chittorgarh comes at seventh place. The school got established in 1961 and spread over 272 acres. It is located at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. The school prepares students for entry into the National Defence Academy. It has been consistently ranked as one of the best Sainik schools.

In 1961, a plan to establish Sainik Schools was launched with the primary objective of preparing candidates academically, physically, and mentally for entry into the Indian Naval Academy, the National Defence Academy (NDA), and other officer training academies. Sh is the creator of the schools.

Minister of Defense at the time, V.K. Krishna Menon. Under the Ministry of Defense, the Sainik Schools Society was established and is in charge of running them. It gave around 550 selections in NDA/UPSC 

8. Sainik School Amaravathinagar, Tamil Nadu

 
Sainik School Amravathinagar ranks eighth among the top 10 Sainik Schools in India. Established on July 16, 1962, it spans 199 acres and is located in Tiruppur, Amaravathinagar. It is an English-medium school open to both boys and girls.

Classrooms and laboratories at the school are spacious and well-equipped. For the best student-to-teacher ratio, a classroom should have a maximum number of 35-40 students. The reading room and library at the school are well-stocked with books and magazines.

Sainik School Sujanpur Tira ranks ninth among the top 10 Sainik Schools in India. Established on November 2, 1978, it was inaugurated by President Shri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy to serve the students of Himachal Pradesh.
